The Streets of San Miguel
This spring I traveled to one of Mexico’s interior cities - San Miguel de Allende. The city is a charming destination and artist enclave with layers of historical architecture, cobblestone streets with a lively central plaza known as El Jardin. Getting lost in the streets of San Miguel was my favorite way to get to know this beloved hillside town and it’s beautiful people.
We were celebrating a good friend’s birthday and opted to spend one of our days with San Miguel’s Chef Paco - by way of Mexico City some 20 plus years ago - as he guided us through the market purchasing fresh ingredients from his favorite vendors. While we sipped on some of Mexico’s amazing rosés and white wines, we helped prep our meal together in his outdoor kitchen & courtyard.
The Jacaranda trees were in full bloom and I cannot think of a more stunning sight than their lavender blooms against the colors of San Miguel at sunset.
